Terms of Use

1. About these terms

These terms govern your use of the mobile app "amena" (the "Service"), provided by Orahi ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them.

2. Definitions

"Service" means amena, an app for English learning, pronunciation coaching and AI tutoring based on Bible verses.
"Member" means a user who has created an account with email or with Google or Apple sign-in.
"Subscription" means a recurring purchase that gives access to the Service beyond the free limits.
"Credits" means separately purchased units used for pronunciation scoring and tutor voice features after the daily limits included in a Subscription are used up.

3. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms where the law allows. We will post the effective date and the reason in the app and on this page at least 7 days in advance, or 30 days for changes that are unfavorable to you. If you do not agree, you can delete your account and stop using the Service.

4. The Service

Listening to, reading and shadowing the verse of the day, with pronunciation scoring
Learning English expressions drawn from the verses
Text and voice conversations with an AI tutor
Reflection notes and writing help
Study history and streaks

We may change or add features, and we will tell you in advance about changes that matter to you.

5. Accounts

You must be at least 14 years old, or the minimum age required in your country if that is higher, to create an account. You can leave at any time through "Me" → "Delete account" in the app. Your data is then deleted as described in the Privacy Policy, and this cannot be undone. Any remaining Credits are forfeited when you delete your account.

6. Free use and limits

Listening to and reading verses is free. Features that use AI, such as pronunciation scoring, tutor conversations, conversation reports and writing help, have daily limits. The limits for free and subscribed use are shown on the subscription screen in the app. We may adjust them, and we will give notice under section 3 of any change that is unfavorable to you.

7. Subscriptions

Prices and billing periods are those shown on the App Store or Google Play purchase screen. Apple or Google processes the payment.
Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless you cancel. To avoid the next charge, cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings at least 24 hours before the current period ends. We cannot cancel on your behalf.
After you cancel, you keep your benefits until the end of the period you have paid for.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Subscription.

8. Credits

Subscribed Members can buy Credits. They are deducted when you use pronunciation scoring or tutor voice features after the daily limits included in your Subscription are used up. The app shows how many Credits each feature uses.
Credits do not expire. They cannot be transferred to another account or exchanged for cash.
If Credits are deducted because of an error on our side, we will restore them.

9. Withdrawal and refunds

Apple or Google receives your payment, so refunds must be requested from the store under its policies.
Where the law gives you a right to withdraw from a purchase (for example within 7 days in Korea, or 14 days in the EU), you keep that right. It may be limited, to the extent the law allows, for Credits you have already used and for a Subscription period you have started to use.
Credits granted by a refunded purchase are removed.

10. Your responsibilities

You agree not to:

use someone else's account or sign up with false information;
create, store or send content that is unlawful or offensive;
interfere with the Service, including by automated or bulk requests;
copy, distribute or commercially use content from the Service without our permission.

If you break these rules, we may restrict or close your account after giving notice. In urgent cases we may act first and notify you afterwards.

11. Content and intellectual property

The English Bible text is the Berean Standard Bible (public domain).
The Korean text is the Korean Revised Version (개역한글판, Korean Bible Society; copyright term expired).
The Portuguese text is the Bíblia Livre (CC BY 4.0). The Spanish text is the Reina-Valera 1909 (public domain).
We own the rights to the Service's interface, design, software and the learning content we create, such as expression notes and example sentences.
You own your reflection notes and recordings. You allow us to use them as needed to provide the Service (storing, scoring and AI processing).

12. About the AI features

Pronunciation scores, tutor replies, corrections, translations and expression notes are generated by AI and can be wrong. Tutor replies are not official theological interpretation or doctrinal guidance, and they do not replace pastoral care or professional medical, legal or other advice. For questions of faith and doctrine, please talk to your church or a pastor you trust.

13. Interruptions

The Service may be temporarily unavailable because of maintenance, events beyond our control, or outages at the outside services we rely on. We will give notice in advance where we can, and afterwards in urgent cases.

14. Limitation of liability

We are not liable for damage caused by events beyond our reasonable control, by your own actions, or by outages at outside services we do not control. We are not liable for damage from relying on AI-generated results unless we acted intentionally or with gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits liability or consumer rights that cannot be limited by law.

15. If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the Service, its maintenance or support, any warranty, or any claim that it infringes a third party's intellectual property. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, and disputes go to the court that has jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. If mandatory consumer protection law in the country where you live applies, you keep that protection.
